is it possible to get antivemon for your pet tigers? haha i want a tame one ;)

Why would you want antivenom at home? Do you think if you get bitten during a freehandling accident you can give yourself an antivenom injection and everything will be ok?

Maybe an asprin and a bit of a lay down..... But thats only if you arn't man enough to walk it off....

You got more guts then me mate!

Nah, it's not about guts, it’s about knowing a particular animal well enough. I've got snakes in amongst my collection I'd never even dream of doing that with - EVER!

The Tassie tiger male I keep I can move around without a hook, his girlfriend on the other hand would have me in hospital every time I got within her range.

Believe it or not I’d hate to get bitten. On talking to people who have been bitten the experience is apparently not the most enjoyable ride you’ll ever have :)

moosenoose lays down a nice trail of Warikuzi burley, and not a single Gordo bite.....

Firstly, before I handle any venomous snakes I take copious amounts of alcohol. The alcohol in your blood stream dilutes and nutralises the venom.

Secondly, If you are unsure, have a look at the snakes vent. Venomous snakes have a larger vent because they can kill and eat larger prey.

Thirdly, If you know it is a venomous snake, but are unsure of it's temprement, enlist the assistance of your mother-in-law for the first few handlings so that you can properly asses the risk.

Forth, do not feed before you handle. That way when you get them out they will be to busy looking for something to eat to be bothered with attacking you.

Fifth, If you place a previous shed over your fingers you will be safe. The snake will think that your hands are its tail and wont bite, (anyway even if it did bite, everyone knows that a snakes fangs cannot penetrate its own scales. It is an inbuilt safety device)

Sixth, Humm while you are handeling. The snake will be much more relaxed. My RHP, (Red headded Python, or Ranger Snake), Goes crosseyed and falls asleep with her toung hanging out.

Seventh, in the unlikely event that you take all of the above advise and still manage to get bitten, then there is a greatly reduced risk of being bitten twice. The snake will have established that you are in fact not food and will feel very embarased, (especially if other snaked saw them make the mistake). Your snake will become very shy so will require further handeling. The phrase "once bitten, twice shy" has its origin in this interesting Herp fact.

I do not know why these points anr not in bold on the first page of all snake books.

By the way, I keep dragons which is exponentially more dangerous, because of the poison barb under their tail that they use for defence.

Happy Herping

Oh I so love this Tinky!!! How about an eighth : Play nice calming music in the background.

I think what a lot of people aren't taking into consideration is my vast experience in handling dangerous animals. Take my dog for example (complete with fresh kill and terminator eyes!)

Don't let his knee-high-to-a-grasshopper looks fool you! This one is potentially lethal! ;)

Wildstorm,

Be very careful with your choice of music. Snakes are rural animals, so it is widly acknowledged that they will only resopnd to Country or Western music.

If you want an eighth point:
Eight, Only small snakes can bite their own tail. On longer snakes their tail is too far away from their mouth.

Now I am really stating the obvious. Next you will be asking me about how to clip frogs legs so they cannot jump out of their tank.

Lucky I am so experienced, (as per my enormous post count), and tolerate Newbys so well.

Moose,

I have seen such a beast take the jugular out of a full grown wilderbeast. They are the Yoda of the dog world.

As a cautionary measure I forwarded this photo to Cesar Milan, (the Dog Wisperer). He sent an urgent reply advising that the dog is clearly saying "Your next". Do not fall asleep in the same room as this animal. Also a Haniable Lecter face mask is insuficient protection. From the muscle tone this beast has many weapons other than his raptor fangs.

THere will be blood, do not say that you have not been warned. Dead man herping.

It has been nice knowing you. Rest in peace.

Conspircy alert !!!

Notice that my previous two posts have the same post number.

Just because I am paranoid does not mean that the administrators are not out to get me.

If you include posts made while suspended, those rejected and deleted by mods, and those not counted as above, my real post count is 4,793.

I humbly have far more experience than they give me credit for. But you guys know that.
