I kept an ackie for a couple of years, really easy to care for, but lightning fast.

Sometime this year I might see about getting another monitor, I have no idea what though.

I want something bigger than an ackie, smaller than a lacie and with nice patterns.

From what I've seen all monitors look gorgeous when they're young but end up going grey and faded.

Anyone got some suggestions?

spencers get pretty big. A gouldi is a fairly good choice and are pretty but overall they are not good handlers. small monitors like gillens and tree monitors make good displays and are very pretty but once again are not the best handling lizards.

Yes, Spencers can get very big, though females are often smaller and they are the best large / medium monitor to keep imo, they are quite a safe monitor, just need to watch your fingers when their holding a rat ;)
