Can these guys you buy at pet shops be used to help keep tank quality better?
Also what do they eat?

they are quiet messy themselves and they wont last long at all with turtles

they can have a tendancy of attacking fish, if you want to use an animal to increase your water quality get yourself some freshwater mussels

you can order various native shrimps and snails off aquagreen also remember that more plants generaly help with water quality

as well as not overfeeding, overfiltration and regular water changes

i used to have a massive redclaw in my tank and it killed almost all my fish. it was fed every few days and they are messy eaters

you can get freshwater mussels in the brisbane river around the fernvale area. just have a dig around anywhere with a sandy bank.
