making a lizard pit

Im planning on making a lizard pit for my blue tongues , I am using a huge bit of pipe from work its about 3m across and 800 high .
Q1. Do i need to make a mesh lid or will they be ok with out one ?
Q2 Would 1 beardie be ok with a few blueys ?
Any pics of your pits (lizard pits!) would be awsome .

If the pipes plastic and has a nice curve to it the blueys should be fine and shouldn't get out, i dunno 'bout the beardy though. You might need a mesh lid too to stop birds etc from jumpin in.

i cant answer the pit Qs but one beardie would be fine with blueys, also i would put a mesh lid in just to be safe.

thanks , I dont think they will get out , i was more worried about birds or cats getting in , i might get a bit of 30mm poly pipe and make a big ring that i can mesh over for a lid .
