I think it depends a bit of the indiviudal snake - though some species are quite active. I find that spotted pythons are childreni are the most inactive, and the most active snakes I own at my murray darlings, and my coastals. My womas are lazy slugs!
 
pythons are no where near the most active, one of the more active species i encounter are whip snakes
 
Colubrids. Then my water python or olive python.
Elapids but you most likely won't be getting one anytime soon.

Most monitors are active to my knowledge :S. It's just seeing them active.
Just give them a stupid amount of heat and be patient with trust.
 
most small monitors are active, specially when the foods dropped in.
 
I have found that by far the most active snakes I've seen in reptile parks and zoos are definTely inland taipans lol but I wouldn't recommend getting one ;)
 
my sandies are stupidly active, it's 10.47pm and they are still up, heat light has been off since 5
