Well ever since the movie 'Madagascar' came out i have wanted to go. But now that David Attenborough's Madagascar series has showed on channel 9, I want to go really badly and maybe even live there in the future.

So I was wondering if anyone has been there? or any one maybe living/lived there? What was it like? If anyone has any photos or their trip and the animals, please please share your photos.

My mum said she wants to go.I asked her is she would want to live there and she said maybe :D

But first i have to save. So i'm currently trying to get a job.

Thanks
Ben

Yep, will do. Hopefully in the next few years :D

I think the start of Casino Royale was filmed in Madagascar (at least that's what it said).

An interesting choice of places to live.

Unfortunately I know very little about it - other than what you'll find on the wiki.

As for animals... Everything from tiny chameleons to the famed lemurs...

I know it gets hit by cyclones regularly... Otherwise, I'm not sure what you can do for work there - or even the cost of living. So it's all going to be interesting to find out :)

I think you need to learn French too... I'm quite convinced it's mainly French spoken...

When i go ill look into what work there is etc. I hate French, its really hard :/

It is a very beautiful fairly mountainous island
More tropical than it would seem to be by its location
It is possible to work there but the wages are extremely low
Fair bit of poverty so there would be resentment against a wealthy westerner taking a locals job
Lovely people and Lemurs are mind blowing as they never seem to sit still but just dance through the trees
Too much deforestation going on now from reports I had from friends there recently
Never played with reptiles there but have heard they have some great ones
Great fishing in the channel between Mad and South Africa

Would there be any jobs to help the animals, and people? that could be fun, and they might like me then.

I honestly dont know but they would definitely have Rescue Services and Animal Habitats that look for volunteers

My last trip there was delivering a yacht from Florida; so I was more of a tourist than a job seeker

Theres alot of lemars there and fussa's and you'll see the occasional hippo, girrafe, lion, zebra, monkeys and maybe some penguins.....

hahaha :)

I watched the david atombrough show aswell on madagascar and apparently it split off africa so there might of been all those animals (exept penguins) there at one stage but not anymore.

Yeah, you listed more than i knew. But the sad thing is, my mum said the pretty much the exact same thing yesterday.

My Father has been there, as for pictures I would possibly be able to find them if he wasnt gallivanting around Thailand at the moment(he is my geriatric teenager)he has most of his memrobilia(sp)in boxes in the shed......He did say it was absolutely beautiful, mind you he does always come home(taps foot impatiently waiting for him to phone LOL)He says we have one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Kind regards
Crystal

Yes we do, but i have always wanted to go and see.

Ohh of course :) It is great to go out into the big wide world :) Dad has been to many countries, he loves to experience different cultures
I hope you get to go :)
Crystal

So do i, but i have to get a job first :/

My parents spent 2 weeks there... they said the roads are terrible, infrastructure is basic at best, children are lucky if they get an education, poverty is the norm and clearing of the jungle is occurring at a staggering rate. It is a third world country with real problems but also has some of the most amazing wildlife in the world. The problem is that because a large percentage of the population live in poverty they seen no reason why they should not plunder the environment to keep their family fed. It's a very difficult situation.

You know how you see a documentary of someone going to Africa or Asia, and they dicide not to come back because they help the people and animals, well thats kind of what i would like to do.
