do snakes need a hide

Snakes need to feel safe and secure, so a hide is essential.
Have a hide at both ends as well so they can choose.

I need more boxes in my lounge, my Stimmie is always watching me.

Maybe you need a hide box to hide in Jackrabbit, make sure the box is the same size as a fridge or washing machine box for you to hide in from your Stimmie, then you wont be being watched, Lol.

You will probably find that over winter it will want to use it's hide more so than in summer. It's actually a good idea to place two or three hides within the enclosure as there will be different temperatures for the snake to choose from and feel more comfy and it will come out to bask as it feels happy to do so.

In my racks I just use up-turned ice-cream tubs with a hole in the top.

And a perfect excuse to eat ice cream!
I'm definitely going wrong with my egg-carton hides on that basis...
