area covenants

Hi all

I went looking at blocks of land today and went to sign up on a block, we had a look through the conditions and saw that there was a restrictive covenant on keeping reptiles or insects on the property.... I really find that pathetic. Livestock I can understand but why not reptiles. The agent said that they can't really do anything but I am curious as too how many here have these too and just overlook them.

:shock: iv never heard of it 4 reptiles!!!! chooks and birds and roosters yes but reptiles?!?! what is the world coming too! We turned down a place due to no big dogs (our boys are 35kg each!)

I have heard of this for bees, but never reptiles! Where in Perth?

From what I understand the Covenant is only there and kind of enforceable while there is still blocks of land for sale? If it was me I would not take any notice of it

As in land that you will buy? What are they going to do to you if you do keep reptiles on the land? Kick you out of property you own?
