Incubating beardies on perlite

I went to bunnings the other day to get some vermiculite, the stuff they had was rubbish so I picked up a bag of perlite, I know vermiculite is the prefered medium or a mix of the two, but can I use it straight with a 1:1 ratio with water? I know perlite is popular with gecko breeders but what do the beardie breeders think?

Perlite will be fine to use, I tend to use perlite more as I don't really like vermiculite as a medium for my monitor and dragon eggs
