You need more resident wild lizards about, they'll deal with red backs.
Don't want those red backs hanging about.

Peds are incredible creatures, very handsome one you have there.

cormocephalus aurantiipes

get up to 120mm max

yes they eat crickets :)
nice find, if you want any more info let me know

at first glance of the title i thought you found something slighlty different to a Pede on your balcony... haha cool find though

just a little background info on the pede that i have gathered with experience,
Cormocephalus aurantiipes are Australia's most variable cormocephalus ranging in size and colour (some forms are 40mm some are 140mm - biggest australian cormocephalus)
that form you have there is the only form occuring in southern SA and bottom half of vic. (gets up to 120mm).
i also find more southern occuring aurantiipes to get dehydrated much easier than other pedes.

i have so many friggen redbacks here its insane but little to no gekos, i do get a few 3 toe sinks but thats it. first pede though. i might take it away down the road to release it. dont really want it hanging around.. just on the topic is it dangerous having beardies or any lizard eating spiders?

Redbacks are awesome...

Release the Pede where u found it, more than likely it will just burrow straight away

that is a negative, we have a 2yo here so im gonna have to at least put it in the park across the road.. but ill make sure not to far
