Where do all you diy'ers buy your air vents from?

I will soon start a 'little' project and not finding many options for choice or price, basically Amazing Amazon have 2 options or slight differences to them on ebay that's all I've found so far so please share your info'

I will be using small vents like these....
Round Plastic Air Vents for Reptile Enclosures - Aquarium and reptile online shop in Melbourne. Specialise in Baby Turtles, Lizards, Frogs and Pythons also for sale!
or maybe these....
Home 4.3cm Diameter Stainless Steel Air Vent Louver New | eBay

I just jigsaw the holes I need (where I want them) and grab some snake/mouse wire and staple that to the outside. Then I can use the snake/mouse wire to make light cages :)

For a cheaper option that still looks pretty smick and works just as well, try Coles, Woolies or Big W for steel "sink strainers". About 3 bucks for a packet of two (can be spray painted to match your enclosure decor with enamel). As they're round, all you need is a 60mm hole saw and Bob's your uncle:)!

Brilliant idea!

yeah vents are cheap as at masters, bunnings, and or as stated use the drains, strainers, easy

I buy round little vents from bunnings and use a hole saw to make the desired cut out. then just silicone or liquid nail in place.

i bought the small plasitc ones off a online hardware store!
cost me like $1.20 for too! shipping wasnt that much ether and if u spend $100 or more shipping is free!
cant remember the site tho, ill post once i remember!

I got a few sink strains from a $2 shop. They cost me $3 for 6. Absolute bargain.

I get my vents from bunnings the ones in the picture are about 10-12 bucks each but really solid so no way they can be pushed out or broken. I reckon larger vents are better as the vent can be covered over a bit in winter then full in summer.

cheers for the replies so far, I'm going to Bunnings shortly to have a look around, I'm ok with spending a couple of dollars on vents they aren't really an over the top expense, small vents are my target tho for the project I currently have in mind so will see what they have.

From memory they have similar vents to the ones in my above post about 2"x6" there are a few different types to choose from

For larger vents use speaker covers, the outside bit from things like car speakers. You can often pick these up free at wreckers for for very little money, usually in black.

I have an enclosure that has them on both inside and outside so if you want say 8 air vents then you might want to get 16.

Went to Bunnings and never wandered down the 'vents' isle before and wow so much selection, abnrmal91 I like your idea of partially closing the vents in winter and they sell that sort too could be handy for a bigger enclosure so I'll have to remember that one.
Mine is going to be a little box conversion for hatchy size roughly hence the small round type, and they have a pair for $2 white or black so I've found where I'm buying them also

I'll do an update here when I get a free weekend to put it all together
