Any ideas as to what this snake may be? At this stage I would like to see peoples opinions without any other information......Ideas can easily be thwarted by directional information...I'll post the other info I have after people post their opinions based just on this head shot. One more bit of info, snake was photographed in SA.

Could be any of the pseudonaja species found south

Thanks for the ideas folks. Brown of some sort fits, long ~1-1.5m, slender snake with a very narrow head. Quite a dark body - dark brown/black with light head. The photo shows the snake at the entrance to a mouse hole. A few too many of these around, I'm having to take some measures to detract them. Basically they are attracted to my bird aviary due to mice as a result of bird seed falling to the ground......time to install a better feeding system. I saw one of these snakes back out of a mouse hole with a mouse in its jaw, would have been a great photo. Cheers
