Is it normal for a monitor to eat poo, either their own or another Monitor's?

i havnt seen any of mine eat theres before. Maybe try and feed them a bit more and see if that stops them.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure he was eating it, he had crap all over his face & had his face stuck in a pile of it. I knew they ate anything but this was a surprise. I'll up the food a bit.

I always thought it was a bit strange that I rarely found crap in the enclosure, just small bits of fur.

nothin better than reading threads like this after you've had afew.crack up!!!

Some of my monitors (Tristis & Panoptes mainly) eat freshly laid faeces, it's not a hunger thing either as they're all fed well.

lol frozen, ive never seen them eat it,but a new male bells lacie nosed a fresh poop and seemed intrigued, got it all over his face, but didnt eat it,who knows what we miss though
