god people say stupid things when they're uneducated on a subject! a friend of mine told me it was cruel to keep a snake in a tank by itself because it would be lonely! what the h*ll.

Gawd where do some people get off Who are the RSPCA to be the ones giving advice? should be the State Museum, local snake catcher or DEC from the pic she doesn't even show she knows anything about reptiles.

funny that your all against it but we actually see more snake bites as it comes in and out of winter especially in the mornings due to what i assume is the browns are slower and easier for dogs to catch.

That might be a point there, they definatly are moving from their feeding haunts to their wintering sites, which means they are on the go so more likely to be seen, attacked or harrassed as they pass through.

Snakes don't hibernate!!!! Haha.

Cheers Brenton

I've heard far more stupid comments from RSPCA 'specialists' so this doesn't surprise me that much

This is a Mornington peninsula newspaper,The main snakes we get here are copperheads and tigersnakes, they dont hibernate and neither do brownsnakes, and even if they did,how does it make it make it a more dangerous time than say, te middle of Summer or the beginning of Spring?

i wasnt even goign to bother with the brumation comment half the people on here dont even know the difference, because all im saying is that at this time of the year we treat more snake bite dogs then we do in summer, its no differnet then when i find a brown out the back at this time of the year usually sitting sunning itself and is real slow where in summer i find one and it has dissapeared before i can blink id say that contributes to a large number of dogs getting bitten by snakes. Simple fact is a slower snake is easier to catch.
