Can only get 22•C Running a basking lamp 100watt EXO Terra

And a Reptile one 7Watt heatmatt.

What can I run in this to get a decent temp ?

Cheers

i would build a shelf in there maybe halfway up and put the heat lamp over it and the heatmat on that. whats the enclosure for? and glass looses heat really quick so it will be a challenge.

Try making or buying a foam background for a bit of insulation and maybe make a heat tile using a 50w heat cord. Check out the DIY threads for some tips.

Bredli just over a year old.

I've got the stuff to make the background just know its not gonna turn out great ( not very artistic). Yeah I came across the tile idea today do you sit a thermostat on-top of the tile or is there away without using a thermostat ?

The heat cords shouldnt heat up that much mate similar to a heat mat. But just test it if its to hot take some length out from under the tile

apart from above...
it's by the window, that isn't the best insulated part of the average house so if you can, move it against a wall and see how the temps go from there it's only usually a deg' or 2 but worth a try if you get close to what temp you need.

but definitely as mentioned above, I have a 90X45X45(cm) glass enclosure and with the back and 1/3rd of the sides covered it made a huge diff' in the temps, not surprising though really but you'd be amazed how much. make yourself that back wall mate the inhabitants don't care how it looks and worst case add a little more to it and see how you go it's all learning.

Best thing to do, Chuck it out and buy/build a wooden or plastic enclosure. Second best thing to do, insulate 3 sides, top and bottom with nice thick Polystyrene. Your snake will be happier mentally too as they don't like glass tanks as it makes them feel insecure as they are too exposed.

I tend to disagree and don't see a problem with glass enclosures, for the most part I prefer them. Just insulate the back and fill it with more stuff to absorbe the heat. All else fails upgrade bulbs or multiply, these are your cheapest options.

This is my setup for my carpet and heats awesome with 60w ceramic heater.

I took out the foam background in mine as my snake kept going at the back there. I have a magnetic rock ledge which she adores, she sits on that n basks to her hearts content, then moves when she has had enough. I also have a hide and fake plants, including a magnetic jungle vine (absolutely love the magnetic stuff).
I keep a sheet around her enclosure now that its cooler (not long had her though) so that only one side is open to view, and on top around the heat lamp is also covered, but leaving that heat lamp area alone so material doesnt get hot and burn. I found this controlled my enclosure temps better. Eventually i will get a wooden enclosure instead of the all glass one i have now.

Note - the above poster actually has a set up much like mine, only mine is lacking the foam background atm which i will put back when she is a bit bigger and cant get in behind it lol.

Thats actually a good idea. I dont wish to disturb her now thou as she only had a feed last night. She does seem more settled now than when i first got her 11 days ago. I do have like a hard jungle vine stuff,i could also cut that to size and place it at either side and the top of the background board to stop her getting in there. I may just do that in a day or so once she has digested her fuzzy :D I do like the look of that background board and it works in well with the color theme of her hide rock and magnetic rock ledge i have in there. The magnetic jungle vine is also new and i wouldnt mind seeing how it all looks set up.

Your enclosure looks great I'm slowly getting stuff for the enclosure takes awhile for me to fill up an enclosure. Everytime i get infront something breaks or happens, specialist cost me $370 such a rip off only got $150 back.

Is that the Exo-Terra Tank With Background included ?

Where do you guys get the plants from ?

Gotta love a glass enclosure!
With mine I used plywood to cover the top mesh to keep the heat in, cut out circular holes in plywood for the heat lamps to sit in.
Without me having a look I believe I run 1x 100w with a 50w next to it and the other side a 50w.
Foam background I think helps.
Use to also have a heat mat underneath enclosure no need for one. Keeping the heat up top encourages the python to come out of hide to heat up and display it self.

Probe sit about 400mm down from top
Rest of enclosure is at a good gradient.

Cheap fix go to Clark rubber and get some polystyrene sheets. Cover the outside back and Sides leaving only the front non insulated. Glass enclosures suck for getting good temps in cold rooms.
