Nice enclosurs all, i'm in the prosess of building some new ones you all just gave me some insperation.

Just a basking spot. As long as there is a place that is 32-35 degrees then my snakes seem to work the rest out for themselves.

Another in an Exo terra.

yeah mate you def need a thermostat . like snowman said 32-35 heat lamp set in one hotpot usually up the top as there arboreal, covered so it doesn't burn itself and your laughing. if he gets hot he regulate his temp by moving towards the ground

astro turf is very good i've heard. ( i use old news kitty litter if you have that at your local shop) but yeah with astro turf just pull it out give it a spray dry it out and chuck it back in

Yea agree. Thermostat cause you want to be able to get 32-35 in winter when it's 15 degrees. But in summer when it's 25 you don't want your 32 to be 10 degrees warmer. The thermostat will stop cooking your snake. Snakes die quicker from heat than the cold. A dimming thermostat is the best option as you can run either globes or ceramics.

Astro turf is fine i used to use it but if you have lot of objects in ur enclosure like I do then u will much prefer Kritters krumble etc. so you can just do spot cleans and not have to strip ur entire enclosure to wash the turf.

thanks guys it is real helpful and any brands of thermostats you would recomend to be bought off ebay ? and will 100 watt inferred for night and 100 watt day glow be allright during the day i live in perth like many of you :)

Im a firm believer that for the most part expensive doesn't mean best, I got my thermostat for $15 on eBay but it Is just on/off you can pay more if you want all the extras like timer an dimmer.
I Run:
Exto terra medium dome with 26w household warm white globe.
Exo terra small dome with 60w ceramic heat globe.
With the heat on 24/7 and light on a 14/10h timer. As the night cools, the enclosure cools just enough for the snake whilst staying in the mid 20s+.
