Tell him to buy her some more painkillers and alcohol.
She's bound to stumble across a lethal combination sooner or later.

Moving out may help him, but it still doesnt change the fact that if some lowlife family member or even a friend or partner were to kill your reptiles no action would be taken by the people that are there to protect the reptiles in the first place. Put yourself in his position and imagine coming home to find your beloved pet bashed to death, only to find out nothing will be done about it....

Maybe, it killed Wacko Jacko...

D': That is so awful, that poor animal, and your poor friend! He should probably try the cops if he wants action taken, they're generally the ones dealing with people hurting pets.

Wouldn't the RSPCA be able to help him? there must be someone out there with the capabilities to do something.

It would be naive to thing the cops will do something. Killing a venomous snake is not a crime even if it was someone's pet. That's what cops will tell you.

All you good (unfortunate) people living in NSW should take this opportunity and demand free reptile keeping. Ask your government why you should pay money to an authority which hasn't got any authority to act on your behalf. Is there anything at all they do for you apart from taking your money?

Not a good thing to happen.By the way it's not murder, that word is only applicable to one human killing another.

So should us keepers in Vic. Miss the return date for your license by 1 day or fail to fill out your record book correctly and risk a fine, but kill a protected animal and they turn a blind eye. BLOODY PITIFUL.

Semantics...

Keeping vens in a house with someone who is unhinged is fraught with danger. It certainly doesn't excuse whoever is responsible for their deplorable behavior though and hindsight is a wonderful thing. Lesson learned hopefully.

The circumstances you describe suggest there is a lot more to it than we are being told. Why does he immediately suspect his mother? Is he living with her or is she living with him? The homeowner has every right to refuse animals or anything else in their home that they do not want. A tenant is not legally entitled to bring in what they want irrespective.

Was this a “I cannot stand snakes” attack or a revenge over something he did? If his mother is the one responsible, she is the one he should be talking to. There is a lot more history here than one incident and that needs to be sorted. It may well be it cannot be sorted and he needs to move out (or move her out, whichever).

AGTP, a juvenile Inland Taipan and a juvenile RBBS – seems a particularly odd collection. A snake requiring specialist care to get it right and one of the most dangerously venomous snakes in the country. This suggests extensive keeping experience. I would like to know where and what he has previously kept.

I reserve judgment until in receipt of all the relevant facts.

Blue

But she had to intentionally seek the keys, there was plenty of thought to get to the snake Wally...

Blue is quite right. This story presented to us is second hand, I am not saying it's incorrect but it is incomplete.

Never going to get authorities involved in this domestic argument unless an official charge is laid, and she would have to kill your baby sugar glider or tamper with your koala joey to get the proper attention..
May as well be flushing a goldfish if it dosnt have fur..

Blue

He was living with his mother due to a relationship break up. He had previously kept Frillies, a freshy, copperheads, blueys Jungles etc so has the required exp to keep them safe, healthy and happy. He had sold all of the other reptiles and was awaiting approval from DSE to sell the RBBS as he had not kept it for the required 6 month period. He blames his mother because she is the only other person living in the house and is the only one that would have access to take a key from his keyring to gain access to the enclosure and to enter his room when he was out.

I agree second hand info is not always taken as gospel, but as he has no internet access he asked me to try and find him some help. He is hoping to bring the body down to me tonight to check out the injuries. If So I will get some pics.

you only have his word that his mother had no problem with having a venomous snake in her house, she may very well have told "NO" and hes gone ahead and put it in his room anyway and in light of these events hes hardly going to admit he disrespected his mother and has only told enough of the story to get snake lovers blood boiling

its simple really, take it or leave it. HER HOUSE perhaps he needs to move to the home/flat of a reptile lover or one of his own

What does he want them to do? How old is your friend? Doe's he want his mother charged?
I mean Cmon he's obviously a grown adult surely he can work this out for himself, either way he may as well just pack his bags and leave. If he's willing to bring the authorities down on his own mother their relationship is doomed.

This is one of the most ridiculous help threads I've ever seen.

What evidence does he have that his mother killed his snake? Maybe she is telling the truth and doesn't have anything to do with it. It sounds like a lot of jumping to conclusions to me. Short of having video or photographic evidence of her in the act of killing the snake, no government department will take any action. Here-say doesn't hold up in court. The animal could have died of natural causes, it may have had a seizure and demolished the enclosure. Only a veterinarian may possibly be able to determine the cause of death.

So if his mother had bludgeoned his dog to death because she didn't want it in the house would it still be ok in your eyes.

Just because your related to someone, doesn't make them worthy of your love and respect automatically. I have had many times in my life my own mother has done things I wanted to call the authorities over, she now thankfully lives in the UK and I don't have to deal with her mental issues. His mother sounds like she should be in an institution undergoing some serious rehab.
