call the n.s.w. dpi i think, im in victoria so im not sure who to contact, but garter snakes are not native to australia they are native to canada and central america. unless your box of fruit came from over there its proberbly not one.
can u post a pick
where did the veggies come from
and if its hurt a vet would be a good idea.
i would also be careful, it could be anything from a python to a taipan without a pic.

Garter snake in a box of vegies at the supermarket hey, not only are our fruit and vegies imported but now it appears all our translocated herps are as well. Somehow this story is a little iffy to be true.

Maybe maybe not. Border Security has had shows where they have found wildlife in goods imported.

It won't be a garter snake, treat it as venomous until proven otherwise and call a local snake catcher.
