ok....this is probably going to come out badly....but you asked for a critque.
with the exception of the third image they are not in focus, some are close but not quite there. Golden rule focus on the eye and use Manual focus
the angles are unusual in 1, 2 and 4, this draws the eye away from the subject
The framing of the images 1,2,4 and 5.......search the rule of thirds
in 1 and 2 the snake is shadowed too much.
OK now I have got that out of the way how can you improve.....
use your flash,....even fill flash will help, this can reduce shadow and allow for highlights
manual focus.......in animal shots the main focal point of an image is the eye....make sure it is in focus
cropping.....try not to crop too much, try to get a pleasing image by framing the shot, not in post production.
fstop.......shoot between f8 and f16 when possible, this will give a greater depth of field
leveling/background consideration.......think about your background, a lush green lawn with a road or path behind running off on a slope looks unusual. to get a snake to curl up bring out its hide place of the ground put the snake in and let it settle, remove the hide and presto curled up snake!
Cheers,
Scott
