that is awesome mate!
I have had back problems since I was young and every day I am in pain.

Wow. I'm 22 as well and I get occasional back pain, but it started when I was pregnant when I was 19. I will never complain about it again! So many things you've had to go through in 22 years. Hope the pain stays away

@RSPcrazy
reading your story I actually had to go back through it cause it sound so much like mine. I woke up one day in complete pain and could hardly more. It took me seeing more than 4 drs to even get a scan done. The pain your talking about I know it only to well. I found the pain medications didn't help after 2 weeks of trying all the ones out there. But that may be due to the fact prior to my back problems I have had 8 knee surgerys. The dr that arranged the scan for me suggested the pot idea to me but it wasent something I would of thort about anyway. After the surgery your ment to be on your back flat for 2 weeks. I couldn't do that cause of my clotting problem. I can lift up something's with out an issue except the pain will be there.

Interesting. The Doctors still believe I'm lying to them about how I did this to my back. Their words are "it's unmistakable when you slip 1 disc, how do you slip 3 discs and have one literally explode and not know about it?".

I never did sports or much heavy lifting and I had a very easy job. Their was no reason for this to happen to my back, I just woke up one day with a small amount of pain and it got worse everyday.

My Doctor also considered pot for me, but I'm not a smoker and didn't feel it was the best thing for me.

Just a tip I found with taking medication. I found after a couple of weeks to a month, the medication didn't seem to be working. As it turns out, it was because I was getting a build up of it in my system. So what I do now, is I have around 5 different types of painkillers and I will take one type on Monday, another type on Tuesday, another type on Wednesday, etc, etc.
I have found doing this ensures I don't get a build up of one thing in my system and they actually work.

The problem I have with being on medications for so long, is I don't remember most of this year, I thought at most my surgery was 6 months ago, but it turns out I had the surgery in April last year
Plus I keep hearing story's of things I've said and done that I have no memory of.

Because of my complication, I was almost fully bed bound for around 2 months, so I can understand how uncomfortable it must of been having to get up and move all the time due to your clotting problem.

Glad things are on the turnaround Rebecca ;) In pain everyday is taxing on body and mind, happy you got relief hope it stays that way. My Dr's wanted to fuse a few discs in my lumbar :/ Nup not yet....

P.S. Pot helps in some circumstances with joint/arthritic pain and spasticity in muscles, you don't have to smoke it you can get a vaporiser that extracts the Delta 9 Tetrahydrocannabinol into a vapour, no carcinogens from burning.

I'm hearing you RSP. With my "local" dr i think he decided that he couldn't be bothered to help me out like he should of. Since my fall there has been alot of questions asked and now i am finally getting some answers to my problems. I have 3 broken bones from a very minor slip over which has undone all my back surgery. The drs at the hospital didnt think there was anything wrong with my back so sent me home with a broken disc and tail bone. My new local dr who i have been seeing for a year now has been nothing but a huge help to me. Him and the back surgeon decided they both wanted a bone density test done due to the bone problems im having. Well the results come back and now we have answers. My bones arn't so good. This is also playing a huge part in my back problems so RSPcrazy i would go to your dr and ask could you at all get a bone density test done to be sure it's nothing more than your back being the issue?.

I have always had very strong bones, the only brake I've ever had, was a fractured elbow. So I don't think bones are my problem. My nerves on the other hand, their stuffed.

I forgot to mention, I also had a fall (well, I was pushed down a couple of stairs by a drunk), probably 6 or so months ago now. That set me back a bit. But lucky me, I didn't do to much damage. Just a painful experience.

Having suffered for many years with a lower back condition, I appreciate just how debilitating it is. Swimming a kilometre three times a week, suggested by my physiotherapist, cured my back pain problems.

Just an update for all who would like to know. Its now been 10 weeks since my fall. I have been back and forward to the dr's a heap of times now. The results are now in for me. I need to have my arm operated on from the fall as it hasn't healed right. My back results are also in. I need surgery on my tail bone as the break has not healed the way it was ment to so my back surgeon is going to go in and remove it for me (how nice) so since all this is going on im also having my back surgery re done as im still in pain day in day out. I would like to say a huge thank you to a fair few people on here who have asked how i am going since the fall and also a special one to Mungus for mentioning how hard it must be for my fiance to watch me go through all this. I think he has just lernt to deal with it and move forward. I haven't taking pain killers in a few weeks now as nothing was helping me. It isn't stopping me from doing much as ive lernt to push through it.

my husband had a spinal fusion years before i met him, this failed and hes been in heaps of pain every since, a few years back a back specialist sent him to Adelaide for a MIR which found the next level up had herniated which was explaining the amount of pain he was having, they have said there is nothing else they can do because if they fuse the herniated section the level above will take the strain and also herniate etc

we have recently started being seen by an addiction specialist (this was recommended by our shrink not because she thought we had an addiction problem but because she hoped he would have some solution to our pain problems) who has recommended my husbands current medications be increased however the regular dr has refused to do so and im about to battle for the specialists recommendations be implemented, if nothing happens my complaint will be escalated with the consent of the practices manager and a shrink but for now we follow procedures

he has an appointment in December with a specialist in Adelaide and ill will take a copy of what you have had done and mention this to see what he says

hubby has had numerous epidurals which are now starting to give him less and less pain free relief

you say they want to remove a broken bit from your tailbone might i suggest a second opinion, i have a 'floating' piece myself and the specialist my lawyers sent me to told me to NEVER have it removed as it would leave the nerve exposed thus making the situation worse

also with the risk of your blood clotting so quickly im surprised none of your drs/specialists have recommended you go on Warfarin to prevent this, though you will have to stop taking them for any kind of surgery but defiantly should be something worth looking into, i myself am now on permanent Warfarin for life due to my blood wanting to clot too quickly

good luck with everything and i really hope you can a fantastic result from the operations, both hubby and i feel your pain, literally

rspcrazy thats great you have a dr like that, i didnt think they recommended 'pot' here in Australia and i know there is a push for medical marijuana but so far the government hasnt found a way to make more money from it then from the drug companies so they arent interested, i would be interested in hearing more about this could you PM me with what you dr said please?

Thank you. Warfarin is something i will be on if i ever have another 2 blood clots. I'm currently on aspirin for the blood problem at the moment. I have seen 3 different specialists about my back and tail bone and all the same results. They wouldn't be touching my tail bone if they didn't have to but the way its healed is coursing me more problems. Basically the point with my back is either get it operated on and be able to have pain free days or leave it the way it is and hope i can still walk in 6 months time. I don't like the idea of having the surgery nor does my fiance after the first experience but i also don't like the idea of not trying something before it's to late. I am under a very good blood dr for my blood problem so i am lucky there.

ah ok didnt realise they had put you on aspirin, hows it going for you? is it straight aspirin or the slow release coated ones?

well i really hope whatever they do to you solves all, or at least 99.99% of your pain problems, i dont think many realise, unless they have been there themselves, just how exhausting living with chronic pain can be, never getting a break just eats away at you mentally as well as physically

hubby and i constantly battle our dr's to get what little relief we are getting, the addiction specialist we seen has recommended an increase in both our meds for a trial period, no change and we go back to what we were on before, mine was just a 15mg ms-contin in the morning which has, thankfully, worked for me...hubbies on methadone and the specialist wants to include doseages in the morning as hes currently only taking at night but the dr he sees has said NO because if it works there will come a time in the future when he might need to increase the dosage because hubbies body has become use to them... hell in the future there might be better options, heck the dr might even be dead or gone from the practice why punish hubby now for something that might or might not happen hence my battle and if i have to put a formal complaint in about him i will, as i said i have the backing of both the shrink we have spoken too and the practice manager who's hands things currently rest in

ill keep my fingers crossed for you, be nice to know something worked for someone
