Yes I learnt my lesson TWICE before I stopped using my bare hands. My 9ft olive python who I expected to be gentle decided to snatch a chicken leg from my hand, grabbing hold of my thumb along with the chicken; and my 8ft carpet boy gave me a whopping half hour of blood shed. That was enough for me to learn that owning snakes isn't about how brave you are at doing stupid things with them.
