ID this snake

This snake was found in my neighbours lounge room does anyone know what it is ?

What state are you in and area?
Its a colubrid going by the lorial scale, and does look similar to the keel back- fresh water snake so im asuming from Qld
 
Im in SE qld i did look up some pics and looks like a keelback just wanted a second opinion
 
its certainly looks like one, but im hoping its still alive tho, because im sure you know its against the law to kill them or to even touch / catch without propper authority.. they are a harmless snake
 
he is very much alive just wanted to ID him before release

The loreal scale is located between the scale behind the nasal and the scale in font of the eye. All of our land dwelling colubrids have it. If you compare it with an elapid, the colubrid actually has an extra scale.

Diagnostic features of a Keelback in addition to the loreal scale are the strongly keeled body scales in combination with the dark edging of the upper labial scales and you can just make out that the angle of the jaw curves upwards.
