G'day guys, I'm wanting to get one of my jungles sexed. Don't know how old it is, but it's about 1.7m in length... I'm in Melbourne S.E. suburbs. Also what's it cost roughly? Thanks
Are you kidding me? That has to be the worst advice I've heard in a long time. So if your snake doesn't end up dead or injured it must be a female? Which one of you males want to have a cage match with me? We can fight to the death. Then well know for sure who's a male and who's a female. If you don't want to possibly end up with a dead or injured snake the best ways to sex is to pop there hemipenes or to probe them. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube that show you how to sex a snake. If you don't feel your able to do it, you can always go to a vet or at least ask a local herper for some help.Best way to sex cheaply is put it in cage with a male if they fight then its a boy if they make love and smoke afterwards its a girlie

Ya I was really surprised when I read that. I was yelling at my screen "DON'T DO IT". I have probed only one snake and popped a few. So I do not feel I can properly explain how to do it sorry. Nothing beats hands on experience. Like others as well as myself have stated go to a local respected herper. I get my reptiles probed by a more experienced herper. Everyone before you make a decision with the info given to you by anyone on this site(myself included) wait for others to pipe up. Often we can't agree on something, that's husbandry for you. The best advice I can give you is wait for a general consensus before you make a hasty decision. Gather up all the info and adjust to suit your needs. That doesn't go for sexing. There is a right and wrong way, I'm just saying for husbandry issues while I'm on a rant. It's not. Giving bad advice appears to be someones speciality though.
Hopefully some can answer with something helpful. I've never had a snake sexed so am interested too.
I'm hoping to learn how to probe from someone that has a lot of experience doing it.
Maybe you could ask an experienced keeper near you to teach you?
I wouldn't reccomend poping for a large snake (it's generally best done when they're fresh hatched). Probing is your best bet however not something you want to do yourself if you've never done it before a YouTube video won't help. Best to either see a vet or get someone who's done it plenty of times to help you out and maybe teach you. It's not very hard.
They would be in a normal marriage wouldn't they, and for all the Americans out there this is a joke just in case you thought we allowed snakes to get married in AusHaha yeah and if neither of them occur? Hermaphrodite snakes? Hypothetically if I had them caged together the last six months and occurrence A or B didn't happen would I have sexless snakes?
