Im fairly sure that pic was taken at a reptile show in Europe, RSP crazy. Im positive I saw it on the Euro varanid forum. Varanid lovers wet dream:)

Just re-reading my license conditions (whilst dreaming at the same time), if I could legally buy one (assuming they are in fact deemed native) then there's nothing stopping me from owning it, they're listed as 'specialist' with Varius, Glauteri etc.

I just found the original article for this photo, I thought they were found in Australia, but the article is talking about the illegal Indonesian trade (not at a European reptile show).

Indonesia remains epicenter for illegal wildlife trade in reptiles and amphibians

I haven't been able to find the post on this forum, but I clearly remember the original poster of this photo saying they had to put them down.

I've seen a few threads on this topic an for once its a good clean discussion about origin. Good work team : D

if the origin of the emerald tree monitor is australian then I will buy one without question. Maybe there will be some more on this topic at the 2013 reptile and amphibian expo at the Melbourne showgrounds.

That article is only a month old. That photo has been used previously . Ill see if I can dig up the original article / context for my own sanity at the very least:)

The black species is V.beccarii, The yellow one is V.reisingeri and the blue one is V.macraei. There are a number of different species in the prasinus group but the only species native to Australia are V.prasinus and V.keithhornei

I agree. I saw Jenna Jameson on the front cover of a magazine at the servo and was very disappointed when told I couldn't have one, two or three of her. Whats the world coming to

Jennas getting pretty old! the words 'Thrashed out' come to mind... Now Megan Fox is on any mans list...:)
