They have the resources to fine for this.. but not the thousands of snakes killed every year.

Must look at this from 2 angles though

They were idiots for putting footage on line
Must have been watching too much TV?

Gov dept had no option really??

Could be a great precedent for the future
All animals were unharmed
$4500 fine for only interfering??
Surely this can be used by prosecutors to get higher fines for killing wildlife?

definately...what's the medias definition of wrestling?

Remember according to the media people get attacked, savaged and chased by extremely aggressive snakes.

Without seeing the video it's hard to deem these guys idiots.

It could have just shown them restraining or holding a croc; no indication of it's size here.

How many people on here haven't restrained an animal or put it in a bag for a while whilst they got their camera gear ready for some shots! It's technically a crime but the majority wouldn't see it as such as long as the animal is returned unharmed

I know of the person charged and have seen the video but dont know him personally.

Basically the video has footadge of them driving in a shallow bay in a small tinny some where east of Cape York. A small salt water croc around 4-5 foot is sitting in the water next to them. He jumps out of the boat, grabs and it and gets back in the boat with it for a picture then they let it go.

Obviously would have stressed the animal but way less then what a typical relocation of a croc.

Unnecessary and silly yes but theirs so many other things the government could be using the funding for.

The snakes mentioned in the article where also in the video, they found a few small water pythons they picked up and took photos of.
