Hey guys,
I have a 7 month old jungle python who appears to have a broken tail (only about 2 cm up) it hangs limp, no feeling and is turning blue. I'm pretty worried about him but he doesn't seem phased by it. He is behaving normally and eating well but I'm still concerned about infection. Going to try and get him to the vet asap but thinking it will need amputation.
thanks.
also if amputation is necessary his chances of survival? I know missing a bit of his tail can affect breeding but I haven't got him for that purpose.

If you need help finding a vet, just post your location so APS users can direct you to a local.

Removal of part or even all of the tail shouldn't be a problem as far as general living is concerned. Even part of the tail won't normally affect breeding, but if it's just a stump behind the cloaca then breeding may be a problem.

I have an appointment for him tomorrow. Hopefully smooth sailing but mainly worried about him being under anaesthetic at such a young age and not waking up :/

I took him today and the vet said everything should be all good. Ill need to give him daily antibiotic injections.
