How to do a DIY background

Hi guys,
I've been looking at all the awesome backgrounds you's have been making and for a while I've been wanting to make one for my rainforest theme tank setup but I have no idea how to make one.
So if you's could tell me how you do it and with whatever materials, instructions and pictures that would be very well appreciated! thankyou heaps!

This Thread by "Gruni" has to be up there in the top 10 fake wall builds i have seen, so if you can't learn anything from this build then i would stick to store bought, not only does he give a good step by step on the rock wall but the enclosure build as well........ http://www.aussiepythons.com/forum/diy-zone-5392/new-mac-enclosure-tv-cabinet-197746/ .....................Ron
