HI excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between Jags and Rpm's .
Are they one in the same or completely different. I have researched a little and some sources say they are the same and others say they are different.
Any expert help would be great
Cheers

Here we go. lol

This is a touchy and complicated subject that will bring different opinions from everywhere.

Hi. Basically
they are the same thing.
when an animal is introduced into this country it has to have a story or paper trail so that can become legit.
Hence RPM was given to jags to say look what I produced for the paper trail to begin.
Then jags are legal in Australia.

So now people have wised up to it now and zebras are now called zebras and granites are called granites.

As I understand it, jags are jags, RPM's are not jags, just a python with reduced pattern.

reduced pattern morph (RPM) and a reduced pattern animals (RP) are 2 different things , reduced pattern morph is another name given to jags whilst reduced pattern is a reduced pattern animal that doesnt have the jag gene attached to it

ah yes, I forgot about the RP's, that's the one I was men't to be referring too. Thanks for clarifying.

RPMs and Jags are the same thing. Its the same co-dom gene that has defective neuro issues and a lethal super form.
Was smuggled into Oz and promoted under the RPM name so as not to bring too much attention to themselves.

There has recently been a jag to jag pairing in Queensland that has produced only one dead leucistic.

The reduced pattern (RP) may not have a proven mode of genetic inheritance, The JAG is proven to be Co Dom with a super form of leucistic (there was a clutch in NSW which had 7 leucistics out of 12 eggs, all died:()

Also if something is listed as RPM confirm the mode of genetic inheritance with the seller.

There was only one DL that was hatched and it died or there was more that were hatched but only one died? There has never, ever been a Lucy that has lived more than a few weeks at best.
And statistically you could get no Lucys from a Jag to Jag or every one in the clutch could.

Just to clear one thing up.... RPM stand for reduced pattern modified not morph.

Actually there was a lucy that lived for 6 months and was feeding by itself, to date they all have died tho.

To my knowledge there was one Lucy in the clutch and it died before hatching. I can send you the Facebook link to the breeders if you would like further information. I do not think a jag to jag pairing would be something that I would try but the breeders are pretty excited about only being one die and are keen to breed two of the jag offspring to see what happens.

I have only heard of reduced patter morph and this is the first time I have heard them called reduced pattern modified. Not saying that you are wrong only questioning why this would be?

you would have to ask Simon Stone why, but this is what he called them when they were first released. The ''purists'' didn't care what he was trying to call them and were just bashing on them so hard because they were jags, so out of ignorance and Simon going quiet the rpm got miss interpreted as reduced pattern morph and the name stuck. Do some searches on here you will see it in earlier threads the guys that got in pretty early call them modified but most people just say jags now anyway.

Sometimes the search function on this site isn't the best but I found these after a quick look. Seems there was a bit of confusion from the start lol

Cheers for the history lesson. In some peoples eyes they might as well be reduced pattern mongrels.lol. Some pretty stunning snakes coming out these days both with and without the jag gene.

I wish they were just called what they were from the start. Sometimes I do think how funny/sad it would be if simon honestly did have the morph pop up in his collection. Just before the pitch forks come out I don't believe this to be the case but it is a possibility.

It did pop up in one collection as do a lot of other morphs.

Popped out of peoples pockets I think you mean!
