I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I can't find the answers I'm looking for with a forum search. What's the best substrate for my 7 week old beardies? I have sand in their enclosure now, but it pongs, even with daily sieving and removing their copious poos as soon as I see them. I'm now freaking out about impaction.

Fake grass? Tiles? Just paper towel?

And while I'm at it, should I be bathing them at this age? One is constantly in the water bowl, it's his hang out, while the other has claimed a rock.

I had my beardie on ceramic tiles until he got a bit of size onto him. After that sand is honestly fine, I just feed him in a tub so he doesn't get any clumps of sand. Bathing is not really 'nessesary' so to speak unless he seems to have problems shedding skin. Also watch out with aggression between the two, it's a common problem.

I use sand, nothing wrong with it. Just use light sand on the bottom.
