If it is on the northern beaches of Sydney, or around Port Stephens then the description matches a Krefts Dwarf Crown Snake. They are fairly common in both areas and are normally found under damp leave litter or logs

Lakeside is a locale often found beside a lake, there is one at Foster, Port Stephen, Lake Conjola and so on and so on. It is not the name of a town or suburb but a general area sometimes attached to group of shops, motel or caravan park.

Thanks Peter. There are lots of areas and facilities with "lakeside" as part of their name as Peter says, but no specific town per se. Google came with a spot near Toukley but the name is not recognised by Australia Post.

I just want to know if it was found north of sydney or south of Sydney, to reaffirm the ID given (or otherwise).
