Would like an id for this snake out of curiosity please if anyone could help?

Found by a freind of mine at work who sadly chopped the poor fella in half :(

It's a keelback. Based on head shape, body shape, coloration and presence of a loreal scale.

Tell your "hero" mate that they are a harmless species that eats Cane Toads.

If it was a Roughy or a Brown there would be a good chance he would have been bit in the process.

Agree it definitely a Keelback - loreal scale present, keeled dorsal scales, labial scales with dark edges, colour and irregular dark banding.

No doubt you were bitterly dissappointed to see your mate do that. I doubt it will make any difference but you might also like to mention that the most common cause of snake bite is from people attempting to kill snakes.

The reality is: Leave them alone, and they will leave you alone!
