Do larger snakes take longer for the shedding process to occur? I am talking rom the time of the start of the loosening of the skin to the start of the sloughing of the skin not the actual sloughing process.

The reason I ask is that my MD, while showing all the using signs of being in shed for the past 3-4 weeks, still has not had her post-winter shed this year.

Thanks for anyone who has experience in this area or can point me to a reference or article.

A little mathematics would suggest that a larger snake has more surface area that it need to loosen with oils and such so it takes longer to separate the old skin, however my hatchling jungle sometimes takes longer to shed than my 10 year old olive and sometimes its the other way around. Both are 99% of the time relatively complete sheds.
