Hi everyone, I have a juvenile Stimsons Python. I have a small terrarium and have a gravel substrate, with 1/3 of area covered with a 12 w heat mat. The thermostat I have set on 30 and was wondering if that's warm enough to get rocks (1cm deep) to a reasonable temp for the snake to get some warmth or should I make it a little hotter? Don't want to cook snake but want to make sure it's warm enough for him to digest.

Rocks really aren't a great substrate for captive snakes. It doesn't really matter what you set the thermostat to you need a thermometer to measure temperature where the snake would sit. I'd be aiming for a hotspot around the 31-32 degrees mark.

Yea as riff said u need a thermometer to measure the temps, my thermostat is set on 35 but only reaches 31
