Why does my het Darwin sit perfectly still when my son is holding it but constantly move when I hold it? I'm relaxed and not frightened at all or make sudden movements, I make sure to wash my hands before and after handling

Have it ever thought that it could be your Het Darwin is kinda frightened or uncomfortable on you?

Snakes are natures seismographs and because of your body temperature, minute muscle contractions, blood flow or skin sweat.... your pet Het would rather forget your company until it gets used to all those "environmental" factors.

Kids (assuming your son is a minor) don't have as much "environmental signature" as an adult.

You could wash your hands, body, arms etc several times but they'd still "acquire" how you were yesterday.

And children tend to generate more body heat, especially boys. Perhaps it is that tiny bit extra body heat.

Or it could feel more confident climbing over your larger frame. I'm not confident this is a question we can answer definitively without a reptile psychology degree.
