Keeping Praying Mantids

I occasionally find Praying mantids in my garden. Has anyone here ever trying keeping them as pets?

As kid I kept a few different species for a few weeks or so and let them go again. They would be pretty easy to keep in captivity if you can supply the food, much easier to leave them in the garden IMO.

I played around with them while I was a uni student. I bred a couple of generations of two or three species. Lots of fun, very cool critters!

Easier to leave them in the garden, but doing nothing is always the easy option, including keeping snakes vs. never giving a snake a second look
