Found in the back of step brothers ute in Newcastle NSW after coming down from the Mount Warren Park area in QLD, so not sure if he's come along for the car ride.

Not a hundred percent sure its either a mourning gecko or maybe and asian house gecko

It has definitely hitch-hiked via your brother’s ute. However it looks more likely to be a Gehyra species to me – probably Gehyra dubius. The first digit on the right front leg and left hind leg both appear to lack claws. I cannot discern any clear spines on the tail, only the substrate giving it the appearance of a rougher outline then it actually does possess.

It’s a Hemidactylus- there are 4 species now recorded in Australia- two on the cocos islands and two on the mainland
