Personally, with any reptile I feel like using a tub just seems cruel to me. I know people do it and it's fine, but I'd personally never do it and always loved the idea of a terrarium with a sick set up that can serve as a functional decorative piece that whatever reptile is in it will love.

Imho it's situation dependant, vivariums are more work to keep sanitary so are more suited to someone with a few "pets" and enough time to spend on maintaining a healthy environment.
For breeders or researchers dealing with decent numbers, plastic tubs all the way as sanitary conditions must be priority. Most breeders that use tubs generally have a few display vivaria style enclosures, these definitely help with sales in my view.

Then there's an between area, of glass front cabinets and newspaper sub, most of mine are kept this way with various decor- plastic plants, natural logs etc
