I've used it before without any fouling of the water. Don't know if this is due to the fact that I had the top sealed or not though. If you had problems you could always change the water as long as you get the temperature spot on.
 
use an aquarium filter so that not only does the water get regularly cleaned but it also prevents hotspots throughout the incubator because the water gets circulated
 
Hmm, is there any ingredient in bricks that would possibly neutralise the water?
The incubator is a polystyrene box, with use of the lid to keep it well insulated and interior ambient sitting on a constant 28.5C, but the water has become a little foul in only 5 days. :?
Thanks for the tip Keeth, may well have to apply the filter.
 
i've never used an incubator such as this before but i plan to in the future, just one question do you slightly submerge the egg container in water or not?
