on the letter inwhich I have received from ecoaccess states nothing about having a movement advise for every transfere....it does say no more returns and that monement advises are know $2.50....I am going onto the epa site to find out more...see you soon

Yeah, thats why you have to submit a movement advice for every transaction because there are no more returns. This is how they will know how many herps you are keeping under your licence.

Yuppers - No more returns, but record books and movement permits are in full efect.
John from QPWS was at the last HSQ meeting and told us all about the new laws, the sublimley stuipd thing is that they will not be letting licence holders know via mail (it's up to you to find out, via renewing your licence or being pary of a club) So it seems that it will be a bit easier for us to sell / buy animals (I hated those damn returns) but in a rush of blood to the head they upped the price for a movement permit from $1.10 ea to $2.50 ea -- Go the revenue --

Well, courtesy of The Herpetological Society of Queensland and GoPrint Government Legislation Publication, I have got a copy of the new Nature Conservation and Other Legislation Amendment Regulation (a.k.a: the new Qld licence laws).

I have submiited it as an announcement article, so hopefully once it has been reviewed by the Gods of this site, it will available for everyone to look at.

Government departments do make you laugh - Do they believe their own hype. Below is a quote from the site.

"The introduction of the legislation is a milestone for the EPA.
The review of the Nature Conservation Regulation was one of the most comprehensive undertaken by the EPA."

Wow! I am impressed,
No wonder movement advices jumped from $1.10 to $2.50. Fair dinkum, why not $5 or $10 - its not like we can but them from the corner shop. Why would a triplicate form suddenly be worth $2.50 - ah! because we need to use them all the time.
So, they save us $139 over five years - not if you move 20 animals per year in or out.

How much did they respond to the returns anyway, every six months 800 people had to fill out a form, did they collate this info in a database? Do they check on people who didnt lodge them but had licenses, and if not - why not! If there are only 800 of us, how many people are employed to keep an eye on us. A few here have said they have never heard from them over a period of years - why? if there are only 800 of us, that is 3-4 visits per day for 2 staff per year.
I know they have been so busy with their milestone, most comprehensive review ever! Changing from returns to movement advices.
Ah, govt departments - ya gotta laugh or go insane!

Shhhh....They're the govenment - They probably have spies on this site looking for members to target :p

I still cant believe only 800, there would be 10% of us on this site alone.
also silly question but , if I sold a qlder a snake -who does the movement advice- or do we both have to do one? Thats $5 a pop for their hard work, no wonder they can drop the price of the license.
but shhhhhhh, its not really me, i dont want my door kicked in at 4am!! lol

According to the guy at QPWS, it is the responsibility of the seller to purchase and organise the movement advice.

I talked to John Rice today at the EPA and he confirmed to me that Movement advices(MA) are needed for all transactions.

This sucks... They talk about reducing the cost of licensing. My costs will go up.

At $2.50 for a MA. That will bring in some good cash flow for them.

The worst part is the friggin paper work.
I cant wait to hear what the larger breeders think of this.

Cheers

Luke

If you breed and sell 100 snakes this year, QPWS will make you relinquish your rec licence, and buy a commercial licence.

It's part of the new laws. They are using the Movement Advice system to keep a better track on who is selling what and how much of it. In the past, you could have multiple licences, but with the new laws, you can have EITHER a recreational or commercial licence. If you have a recreational licence, it is assumed that you're not a breeding enterprise, and you will only sell one or two small clutches. If however, you are a larger breeder, expecting to sell large numbers, they will pull your rec licence and have you apply for a commercial licence. The only problem with this is that on a commercial licence under the new laws, you can only breed the following species:

The following reptiles of the family Agamidae -

central netted dragon Ctenophorus nuchalis
inland bearded dragon Pogona vitticep

family Scincidae -

pink-tounged lizard Hemisphaeriodon gerrardii
eastern blue-tongues lizard Tiliqua scincoides
cunningham's skink Egernia cunninghami

family Chelidae-

eastern snake-neck turtle Chelodina longicollis
saw-shelled turtle Elseya latisternum
krefft's river turtle Emydura krefftii
murray turtle Emydura macquarii

family Geckonidae-

thick-tailed gecko Underwoodisaurus milii
rough knob-tailed gecko Nephrurus asper
smooth knob-tailed gecko Nephrurus laevissimus

family Boidae-

childrens python Liasis childreni
spotted python Liasis maculosus
stimpsons python Liasis stimpsoni

Mel

it will be a bit of a pain but if thats the law and thats it, no point thinking about really, besides charge the buyer the $2.50 for the MA, like the NSW lot do, they get charge $20 for permits (is that right or did I get riped) so its not that bad. for me thats had a specialist licence for the last 15 years at $160 per year , the new fee at $200 for 5 years is very much welcomed even with the increase of $1.40 for the MA's
