he has had 2 little seizures , the 1st he started runnig around then stopped and turned around like he was trying 2 bite his tail then stopped moving, he came right then when i was bathing him, he saterted rolling over and opening his mouth again, it was hard 2 watch, can anyone tell me wats wrong, hes only a hatchling. temps r 37 at basking spot and bout 30 at cold end

john

i am not too sure, but i had a hatchling that i bought then after two days in my care it started having fits, it ended up being that the mother had a slight calcium deficiency which in-turn affected the eggs etc. I was told to bump up the calcium and UV and within a week it stopped, and now he is a perfectly normal adult.

this is just my experience, and not a concrete solution. Wait for some of the more experienced people before trying anything.

Call an Exorcist!!

I'm sorry to hear about your beardie. I hope its nothing serious though. I know how it feels when something undesireable happens to a pet.

Anyway, all the best.

ok hornet, dont take this the wrong way, but do some research!!

most books about the keeping of bearded dragons will identify this perfectly as a calciam deficency, give it more calcium powder and more uv rays( or natural sunlight which is better)

thanks so much for that info guys, i will give more calcium and uv.

Calcium sandoz from the vet is far better than dusting, from what I have been told.

take it out in the sun for a few mins every day, bump up its calcium (be careful not to over do it) and it should come good. Also make sure you are feeding it well. See if you can get it to eat stuff like broccoli, clover, plantain, dandelion (and the flowers) but try and avoid silverbeet/spinach and carrot. I had a similar thing happen to a little dude from last season and so I kept him. He was a slow starter but is now looking good and growing nicely. Good luck.

Why avoid these foods, I've given my beardies plenty of carrot and a bit of spinach in the past, with no side effects?

John - Regardless of species I'd be inclined to lower the temp by a few degrees anyway, especially if it hangs around the cooler end a lot. hatchlings can over heat very easily because they're so small.
It sounds serious though so you should probably try and get hold of a reptile specialist vet.
Good luck.

My beardies eat carrot, beans, snow peas, choy sum and buk choy, their favourite being red capsicum. Is this alright?
I don't know about the other newbies, but I wouldn't mind a few different opinions about what vegies are the best for beardies.

PS Nice tattoo Already_Gone, same as my girlfriends! :)
