licence

i think it refers to womas here, and possibly 2 green tree pythons!
can anyone else confirm that for us please.
bombie

There is no species list, you can keep anything on your recreational licence except the more dangerous Elapids, Rare, Threatened or Endangered animals or Crocodiles. On you Rec licence you can keep two restricted animals, not including any of the vens, so you could keep a pair of Green Pythons or Womas, but you can't breed them without upgrading.

I wish the EPA would produce a list of accepted/restricted reptiles and attach it to every new license that is mailed out because Scott and I had the same questions and I couldn't get in touch with any one at the EPA (well no one with a definate answer) Had the web site is a maze with no exact answer either..

You can have your licence ammended (for a small fee ) to include certain restricted species without having to upgrade to a specialist permit , i dont think this include vens or crocs though .

hi swampie,
what you say is right, but it all depends on where you are, as it's not that easy to update your licence to breed or own more then 2 womas,

cheers,
steve........

can you move up to a updated licence, if you have one in another state?

Example: owning vens in VIC then moving with them to QLD?

The post by swampie above is actually right. It is relatively easy to upgrade you license to include certain restricted reptiles not including crocs or vens. There is still quite a fee involved though. I was only talking to the EPA about it today.

Cheers

This topic has been Discussed numerous times before, You Can Keep anything on a rec licence Exc: Elapids , Sea Snakes/turtles ,Crocs and anything that is Rare or Threatened.

I would say QLD has one of the better licencing systems, Upgrading with an amendment is a fairly easy process if it doesnt involve Elapids.

Upgrading your license really does depend on where you are as far as how hard or easy it is. I had to supply a couple of references from well known keepers and it isn't a foregone conclusion that it is granted.

go to th NT they don't charge for liciences or books.

And the restricted though not hard to get cost me $233 books and movement advice included.
The thing that stun was i had to pay $55 for the rec then the extra for restricted, my only concellation is in the long run (5 years) it's a bargain.
Now i can get as many GTP and Woma's as i like :) (wishing) on the GTP anyway....

that's on top of you $55 for the rec thoug, If your thinking of upgrading contact the girls at epa on the 1300 number they were more then helpful with all the information i was chasing when i crossed the border :) help is only a phone call away :0
