how long have you been keeping?

with so many newbies joining up thought i would make a poll on how long people have been keeping herps.

I got my first Reptile, Ziggy on the 23.01.07 and my second Zorro on the 17.06.07. So roughly around 5 months.

I had bluetongues for a while as a kid, but started keeping pythons in 1988 with a few years break in between then and now....

this is a very interesting poll. you can see the growth spurts within the industry - now if only everyone on the site would answer it. A thousand people would be good enough to do an official study.

Got my first snake around 10 years ago .
My old man always had snakes around when i was a kid , but i never owned any of them .

I started keeping a few Eastern Beardies about 8 - 10yrs ago, and also kept about 12 Bluetongues for a few years after that...when we moved I had no room for a new pit so didn't keep anything until about 6 mths ago when I started up again...

I kept blueys for from age 11-15 then didn't keep anything till i hit 21. Now 28 so been keeping consecutively and last 7 years.

First animals were Southern Forest Dragons, then my snakes Brutus and Belle (R.I.P Belle )
I have kept all types of lizards and pythons during that time- not allowed elaipids at home

Does catching garden skinks as a kid and keeping them in huge bowls with lots of grass count?

exactly 13 days lol. beardie shed for the first time 2 days ago, gave the little fella a bath all i can say is wow he doesnt like bath time lol, the water was about 35 degress and only about 4 cms deep with a face washer to rest on, he hated every minute of it. eats like a champ though.
