Ok I'll bite, well kinda. I went to Wildlife Sydney last weekend and saw mertens and frillnecks in the same enclosure. I did notice that...
I would try both insects and chopped prey. Cut up the whole prey while they are still frozen. Things get a little messy if you cut them up once...
Nice set up . I think Retes buries several layers under substrate to provide more choices for humidity and temp for the monitors. He also uses one...
Thanks mate , really looking forward to the trip.
Hey thankyou Goldie74, thats awesome!!! Do you think there will be snow on mount Wellington? thanks again
Im taking the family to Hobart for an extended weekend. Im looking for suggestions in regard to what to do / what not to miss in
Subduing and swallowing the yabbie is only half the battle. I really enjoy watching my mertens walking underwater and hunting for their food,...
isnt that doc neeson playing that ric bass and singing in that clip ???? First band I saw live was the Angels.
^^^ I think there is a little bit of panoptes in that one. ^^^
^^ Great advice ^^. I only use safety glass for my enclosures. I dont think you can cut it though.
Nice work Scalymung. Did your flavies produce eggs for you this season?
Try your local 2nd hand building supplies or buy-back centre at the tip. It will probably cost you 5 or 10 dollars for the glass, then build your...
how , barring natural disaster, do you loose a perentie???
I tried it but I did NOT inhale:lol:
Great photos, beautiful monitors:)
Thats obviously not something you see every day. If I saw that here Id be looking for more sign of anything, feline or boganesqe.

Cool flavis Tristis. Is the female a hold back from last season?
Haven't had a chance to read the monitor edition from cover to cover yet, however what i have read is fantastic. Well worth the wait

My copy is under the tree also:).
Eidenmuller and Daniel Bennett's books are also a must for the Library I.M.O, and dont forget Mike Swans...
If you are comparing it to Pianka / Kings book then it must be good. cheers
Any feedback/ critique of Danny Browns varanid book? Im a bit surprised there does not seem to be anything here
mertens arent really a rip your face off monitor, they will tail whip and try to drown you in poo though. Good luck R4me! Any pics of your set up?

Ive got a 5 yr old pair of mertens . The only time...
I like your hypothesis Blue:). Grass hoppers etc. dont seem to like moisture either do they? They seem to take cover when there is dew or rain...

Does the same apply for crustaceans eg. yabbies

Fantastic set up mate! What is the background made out of ? latex? fibreglass?
Great monitors. I ditched cocopeat/ tea tree mulch in favour of sand in my mertens enclosures as I found the cocopeat/ mulch fouls their water too...
