On Saturday night, we driving along a dirt road about 100km west of Darwin, and came across a "sidewinder" snake.

It would have been about half a metre long with black bands across it and was moving side ways like a classic sidewinder. Unfortunately, I didnt have a camera, and my phone was dead so no piccies.

I didn't think sidewinders existed up near the coast. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Quite possible as it had the same shape. But all the adders I've seen, I've never seen a black and white one.

Not only do you not get sidewinders up near the coast, you do not get them in oz.
