hello! we’ve recently adopted an albino carpet that was going to be orphaned. she is a little over a year old.

when we got her she was still on fuzzies which seemed too small for her size so we gave her a weaner rat which seemed to satisfy her !

a couple things:
1. feeling conflicted about lighting - precious owner has a Reptile One fluorescent UV light above the tank. should we replace it with something else?
2. we think she’s about to shed but haven’t been her for one yet..eyes have gone a little milkier, has been under the hide (which is under heat lamp) almost nonstop which is a change for her because she prefers her tree. it’s been a few days and no sign yet.. should we be worried?

thank you!

Get rid of the UV light they only need the heating. You are correct she is shedding so just leave her alone. Could be 2-3 weeks before she comes out again.

thank you! we’re a bit worried bc sydney has gotten quite dry and hygrostat is down to 30% :(

if your that worried about humidity you can just put some hot water in a spray bottle (probably don't use a cleaning spray bottle) and give the python a little spray they won't mind you can lightly mist the enclosure as well.
