Morelia_man, i too like the ugly little buggers. i have a contact in Darwin who breeds them. i will dig some info up for you and get back asap.

Yet another interesting species that we are not allowed to keep in Victoria :-(

I belive the key to keeping file snakes is water quality - it must be clean, clean, clean!

It would probably be a good idea to invest in a good canister filter, they cost a bit, but are fabulous in keeping the water in great condition.

For Victorian's who want to see one of these really cute snakes there is one at the Ballarat Wildlife Park very close to the main crocodile display.

All the books describe them as having a face that only a mother could love but I think they are very cute. They have what seems to be a very line and extremely fine forked tongue which I find particularly endearing.

I feed mine goldfish and the odd barramundi. I keep the water at 31 degrees because he wont eat at a lower temp.
