I have a big fascination with ball pythons are we able to import if so what license is needed or can these be bought in Australia haven't seen them around but just a question

No. Plain and simple.
If you see any up for sale they are illegal and certainly not on any licence.

Just something to add to PP's post.
The only license you would be able to keep a non-native reptile species on is to have Zoo license. So unless you open up your own licensed zoo and presumably pay a large sum of money to what I presume would be the government, you won't be able to get ANY non-native species.

If you have the experience and know how to get through the system, and set yourself up as a reptile exhibitor (in NSW anyway), you may put the case to keep exotic reptiles, but you can't import them yourself - you would need to get them from approved sources in this country. I doubt Ball Pythons are likely to be available - can't say I've seen them in any public or private collections over the years.
