Found this bird out near sedan south Australia. Couldnt believed i spotted it going 40 on a dirt road. Let me get really close.

It's a Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides).

Yep, have one that flys in at night and sits on our back table, my wife was even able to feed it meal worms with the reptile tweezers... Gorgeous looking bird.
 
Thanks for the id. It was very camouflaged on the branches, they'll almost same colour and pattern.
 
You're welcome Hector. Yes, they have superb camouflage and pose to look like a broken branch base.
They also close their big, yellow eyes to slits and turn their heads almost imperceptibly to follow your movements.
 
Haha bananapeel, have a close look, definately a tawny, i know they camouflage like that but i have never seen one do it before.
 
You should check out the Papuan Frogmouth (not found down your way, of course...) - they're found up here in Nth Qld and have amazing RED ​eyes! :D
