I’ve noticed before that my Diamond blushes when she’s eating, and tonight I’ve captured it on video. It starts just as she’s about to take her food, deepens as she proceeds to eat and travels down her body just ahead of the food.
My hypothesis is that the blood rushes into her muscles to warm them up in preparation for stretching.
Has anyone noticed anything similar with your snakes? I don’t see it with my bredli, but she’s got creamy yellow throat and belly scales which seem to deepen in colour when she eats.
Does anyone have any other hypothesis why this happens?

Your hypothesis is right :)

When they smell food they get excited, when they get exited the blood starts rushing through the body so it can work harder.

Diamonds are a cooler climate snake. Hence larger blood vessels. Hence blushing. Totally normal.
