    Hi

this evening when I went to check our pythons

noticed that one of our children python female is laying on her side? Haven’t seen this before with any of our other python.

    what would it mean?

They can do this when they have eggs to warm their belly up

Sometimes they’ll do it when they don’t have eggs and show signs of being Gravid (Like laying on their side) which is called phantom something something

It's not just egg related. They can do it at any time of year and males do it too. You're right that gravid females are particularly prone to it. People used to say gravid females did it to heat their eggs evenly but they do it equally with floor, overhead or ambient heat, so this isn't it. It's probably just a bit like people rolling into a different position to get comfortable while sleeping, and gravod females are the most likely to need to roll around to deal with getting more comfortable. I've had male Children's Pythons very prone to it.
